Places to ride north of Bancroft

Postby mark '97 930 » Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:48 pm

Fellow forum members...

Does anyone know of any places to ride near the Barry's bay/Bancroft area?

Looking for trails preferable.. the odd track is fine too.

4 of us are going on a weekend trip up there for riding and wanted to get some ideas of where we can go (we all have green plates.. so legit trails are fine too).

If you prefer to PM me so as to keep your locations more secretive.. feel free to do that. I won't divulge any info.

We're onyl there for 4 days anyhow, and don't plan on being back there until next year if we do this again..

tons of trails up there if you have a green plate. You can trail ride from barry's bay right into bancroft and even head further south if you want. some will be pretty technical though with the four wheeler ruts!

We do have green plates..my only concern with the ride you mention is GAS... over have of us have MX bikes.. and I have no clue what kind of mileage you get... are there smaller circuits and stuff as well?

you can get gas in town in whitney and barry's bay. I don't think there is anything in Madawaska anymore. Also gas in lake st peter. You should make them no problem. You may want to ask on the odsc forum. I have ridden a quad from lake st peter up the back way around mackenzie lake to madawaska to whitney and back to lake st peter. about 100k on one tank on a quad. find a snowmobile map of the area, trails are pretty much the same.

Thanks all. We just came back, and the trails were great. There are better trails off the snowmobile ones (they're pretty flat).

The oftr was up there a few weeks ago and I got some trail maps from there. We are looking to go back since we all enjoyed it.

Got a family cottage on Mackenzie Lake, 4 of us went up there with an Argo and 4 MX bikes. We easily went to LSP and back the long way around Mackenzie. Shit this was back in the late '80s. We had to ride along the beach and through a river to get back to the cottage but fun times.
Also went snowmobiling on another trip there. Awesome land, not quite BC but it has its own appeal, especially in October.
