Postby 789 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 6:40 pm

Hey guys,

Looking at trading my 04 canyon in on a 06 Ford f 150 with the 5.4 in it. Just wondering for all you ford owners how this truck has been for you guys?

fuel economy
and just all around performance as a truck.

Shoot away!

I had an 04 FX4 Supercrew. Very quiet, very solid, very nice interior. Stone reliable.
No better mileage than any other truck.
Fairly gutless, due mainly to the 4 speed tranny. Hauled bikes okay, not a great trailer puller. For an all around daily pickup, pretty good.
A total pain in the ass to wash, all the plastic trim holds water like crazy.

When the lease was up I gave it back and got a TRD Crewmax Tundra. The 5.4 Ford engine runs about the same as the 4.7 Toyota. Luckily I got the 5.7.

I've had a '05 XLT 4x4 reg. cab long box for the past 3 years, it's been a great truck. It has the 5.4, and it's no rocket but it gets the job done. Fuel mileage is average i guess for V8 pickups. Fuel mileage was horrible towing a small trailer. I rented a new Tundra for 3 days while in Dallas and I definitely prefer the Ford. Until now I've always owned GM trucks, bought 3 new ones in '99, 02 and 03 and I've been very happy with my F150. and honestly I think the Ford is a nicer, more comfortable truck. Go for it, you'll like it.
